Stoked! A Saturday at Sandown
While we won’t have any stakes representation in the Sunshine State this Saturday the stable will saddle up five runners at Sandown, including Chakado, who is shooting for four on the bounce when he steps up to Bm78 grade.

Chakado has come into his own this campaign with bold front running displays at Cranbourne to salute on both occasions under the in-form Joe Bowditch.

Despite Saturday’s contest, Race 6, being a step up in class we expect Chakado to prove competitive again given the favourable draw, barrier seven.

Joe Bowditch will also partner the resuming Red Hot Nicc in Race 8 on the program.

The Dalziel Racing-owned sprinter is yet to win first-up but has produced four second placed performances when fresh off a spell.

Red Hot Nicc continues to please in his trackwork and looks to have returned in good order off the back of two nice jump outs.

We are excited to see promising juveniles Hot Whiskers, herself a debut winner at Mornington last preparation, and first starter Street Legal step out in the opening event on the program.

Both horses have shown plenty of ability at the jump outs this preparation and can certainly measure up to the grade.

Lavish Thinker, who has done nothing but please in two runs back this campaign, gets his chance at Saturday grade (Race 7) after a strong last start performance at Bendigo over the mile.

The Think Big Stud-owned galloper will appreciate the step up to 1800m and can make his presence felt with a light weight and talented apprentice Hannah Edgley aboard.

All roads now lead to the G1 Tatts Tiara with Bennett Racing’s Zaszou after she produced a blistering display of speed to take out last Saturday’s Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes.

The jump from Listed to Group 1 grade is no mean feat but her performance in the G2 Sapphire Stakes in April gives us confidence she can measure up at the top level against her own sex.

Zaszou’s victory marked the stables seventh individual stakes winner since Deakin saluted in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality at Flemington on March 29th.

Our other stakes winners during this period include Comanche MissStay FocusedAthanatosFemminile and Regal Azmon.

We will saddle up just the two runners at Murray Bridge on Saturday, including promising 2YO Matahgain Race 3 and The Mansman in Race 7
